"I started the New Year after five weeks in Lake Village. It was a warm feeling to be a patient surrounded by a staff that liked and respected each other. The way that they worked together was a great support to my recovery. They really cared about me.
One person in particular was my special care giver - Ines Recinos. Her happy 'good morning' was a positive start to the day. She is small but mighty. She cares for everyone that she cares for. My special memory of her among the many things that she did was my morning shower. She really meant business. She even cleaned between my toes. The last person who did that was my mother many years ago. Now every morning when I take my shower at home alone - I look at my toes and bring back my mother and my friend Ines. I can't help the smile that I feel. - Doris Florito"

"I cannot leave without expressing my thanks for the close attention your nurses give here to the needs of the residents. Maria was so prompt in answering my call light even during the very busy times of day, and was so calm no matter what the situation was. Gladys was especially helpful and a true bright spot in my day. Her cheerfulness was very catching. My sincere thank you to all for your great work. Sincerely Virginia Sanders."

Don McCullough was a resident of Lake Village Healthcare for many years. Every day he liked to sit outside and talk with everyone who came through the doors of the building. Don would often regale them with his interesting stories. When it was time for him to transfer to another facility several hundred miles away where his family lived, our activities department decided to give him a memorable send off. Ligaya DeVera and Jeannette Perez both often go out of their way to do extra special things for our residents and Don was no exception. Don told them that he was going to miss his home of many years and had a favorite restaurant in Lewisville that he used to go to regularly. While he was looking forward to seeing his family, he wished that he could go and sit in his favorite spot and drink a cold beer one last time. After work, Jeannette and Ligaya took Don out and made this a reality for him. This is one example of many where Ligaya and Jeannette demonstrate their compassion and genuine care for our residents happiness.

Pete Lewis has been visiting his wife at Lake Village Health Care almost every day for years. When Pete did not show up at the facility for a few days, LaTanya Garth, his wife's LVN, called to find out where he was. Pete was sick with pneumonia and confined to his home alone. LaTanya, along with Martha Naranjo, Martha Martinez, Edward Mottolla, and Gisela Yoplac (the CNA's who care for Mrs. Lewis) set up a schedule among themselves to go out for visits to see Pete and make sure he had meals, groceries, and anything else he needed while he was recovering. Pete is back on his feet and visiting regularly again - in fact he was the facility Santa Claus at the Christmas party!

It is caring nurses like Edward, Gisela, Martha, Martha, and LaTanya that go above and beyond, who make the staff of Lake Village World Class.

Jeannie Corrales, an RNA at Lake Village Health Care demonstrated what it means to be truly dedicated to our residents. Pearl Davis, a resident who had recently broken her leg and was in a full foot to thigh cast, had to be seen by the orthopedic doctor. The transportation company sending the wheelchair van was a no-show and Mrs. Davis was going to miss this appointment. After helping 2 staff members struggle to get Mrs. Davis into her daughter's van, Jeannie, even though her shift had ended, volunteered to follow them 30 minutes each way to the doctors office to help the daughter transfer Mrs. Davis safely from the van to her wheelchair. If not for Jeannie's dedication and generosity, Mrs. Davis would have had to wait an additional 3 weeks to see the doctor and be cleared to begin bearing weight on her leg. This would have delayed her physical therapy for the whole three weeks. Thank you Jeannie!

Lake Village Social Services Assistant Maribel Rodriguez is really pretty fantastic. She has helped out in several other buildings and is always willing to do anything to help here, but her care for the residents really is above and beyond. Only one example was with one of our residents Elaine Mercado. Maribel saw Elaine crying in her room a couple of weeks ago and went to ask her what was wrong. Elaine is a younger resident and was very upset as that day was her anniversary and her husband would be coming to visit that afternoon but she was unable to go to the store or even get a card for him. Maribel used her lunch break to go to several stores and, with her own money, put together a gift basket of items that she knew Elaine's husband liked. Maribel then helped Elaine decorate and write in a card for him to make the gift from Elaine.

Thank you Maribel!

Just wanted to drop you a note to thank you and your staff at Lake Village for providing such excellent care to my mother. My family is grateful for your understanding that you allowed us staying with our mother at the time she needed us the most. She has been recovering at a remarkable pace, which I’m sure is attributed to the outstanding care your staff has provided. I’d like to express my appreciation and gratitude to them all, especially to Gladys Fanning and Maria (I don’t know her last name but she’s on the morning shift), for their kindness and professionalism.

Again, thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Lo Luong Lo
